We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

None of the following, as desirable as many of them are, should be the reason why you believe God has called you to the ministry of preaching: Ambition to be noticed, to prove yourself, or to “make a difference;” confidence that you could do well in the ministry; compassion for hurting people; confusion about a mystical experience; fluency in public speaking; knowledge of the Bible; failure at all other types of work; belief that ministry would be the best means to an easy life, study and intellectual pursuits, or wealth; acquiescence to the expectation of a parent or the selfish opinion of others; conviction that the church needs you. Do not enter the ministry if one of these is your main motivation. You must be called.

Are you holding fast to the Word of life? Are you revealing your desperation for the Bible by making it a priority to read it on a regular basis, both individually and as together as a family? Are you daily seeking to learn something new from the Scriptures? Do you follow what the Bible teaches regardless of the financial, emotional, or relational cost? Do you believe the Bible is sufficient to live a victorious spiritual life? Do you believe the Bible is the voice of God without error? Do you believe the Bible has authority over you? Do you hold fast to the Bible when everything in you during a trial screams at you to rely on your own wisdom? Do you believe you will have more joy and peace by following Scripture? Do you believe you live in a “crooked and perverse generation” that by necessity demands you hold fast to God’s Word? Are you standing firm in no way overcome by your trials because you are fully relying on the promises of God?

Grains California Gma2 1 Servings

INGREDIENTS

2 c Long-grain rice
Water

INSTRUCTIONS

Texas or California long-grain rice are the most common types served
in Chinese restaurants. I enjoy Jasmine rice (from Thailand) and
Basmati rice (from India), which require 1/2 cup more water and up to
10 additional minutes of cooking time. Cooked rice stays warm in the
pot for 15 to 20 minutes. Cooked and cooled rice may be sealed,
refrigerated, and/or frozen for several days. Excellent for fried
rice. Rice should be rinsed repeatedly and thoroughly before cooking.
Place the rice in the pot, and using approximately 4 or 5 cup of
water, rub the rice between your hands. Change water and repeat until
water is clear. (Initially, the water will be quite milky, due to the
residue left from the milling process.) When the rice water is clear,
give it a final rinse and add fresh water to measure 1 inch above the
rice level. Bring the pot of rice to a boil, and when visible water
begins to evaporate, cover and lower heat to simmer for approximately
15 minutes. Remove lid, and fluff the rice up with chopsticks before
serving. From In the Chinese Kitchen With Shirley Fong-Torres (Pacific
