We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

[God] may direct some to leave their homeland to go to proclaim the Gospel in a foreign land. There is a great temptation in such circumstances for people to revert to the legalism of thinking that they are being heroes for God because they are leaving their homeland to endure the rigors of living in a foreign land. Those who are directed to do hard jobs for God must remind themselves that these rigors are simply for their health. As these difficulties help them become more like Christ, they will sing a song of praise unto God, and as a result 'many will see it and fear and put their trust in the Lord' (Psm. 40:3). People who regard themselves as invalids rather than heroes will make excellent missionaries.

The gratuitous leap of logic comes when church leaders think that because people are searching for benefits only God can give them, they must therefore be searching after God. No, they want the benefits without the Giver of the benefits. And so structuring worship to accommodate unbelievers is misguided because these unbelievers are not seeking after God. Seeking after God begins at conversion, and if we are to structure our worship with a view to seekers, then we must structure it for believers, since only believers are seekers.

1 Bay leaf, up to 2
Salt
Piloncillo, best

Cooking oil, unspecified
corn oil soybean oil
cottonseed oil rapeseed
etc. should be OK. Olive
oil may be a little too
strong-flavored but
what-the-hey. Post your

INSTRUCTIONS

(Also available in original Spanish; direct requests to me at
jguad1@mer.cioe.com, as most list members appear to prefer misusing
the English language.)  Procedure  Rinse chiles. Simmer 'em, low heat,
in just enough water to cover  them, for about 15 minutes. Drain 'em.
Add remaining ingredients: slices of onion, garlic, a few cloves, a
few peppercorns, the bay leaf or two, salt to taste, and a "pinch" of
piloncillo for a slight sweetening effect.  Fill pot with enough
VINEGAR and low-boil until other ingredients  reach your desired level
of done-ness, tenderness, etc.  Before transferring into the
pickling-jar-of-your-choice, add a bit of  cooking oil. ("Bit" was my
translation of the Spanish "chorro" which  can mean "splash" or
