We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

It is only through God’s Holy Spirit that we can find true joy (Psalm 51:11-12; Galatians 5:22; 1 Thessalonians 1:6). We can do nothing apart from the power of God (2 Corinthians 12:10, 13:4). Indeed, the harder we try to be joyful through our own efforts, the more miserable we can become. Rest in the Lord’s arms (Matthew 11:28-30) and seek His face through prayer and Scripture. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

Where did we ever get this belief that manipulation, arrogance, anger and abrasiveness are effective ways to win people to the Lord? Even if we are persecuted, such an individual is acting in the flesh. Why would we respond in the flesh as well? If we are persecuted for Christ, respond in a way that Christ would respond. Isn’t that common sense. Didn’t our Lord command us to respond to unbelievers with “gentleness and reverence” (1 Peter 3:15)?

Green Chili Con Carne (p/c)

INGREDIENTS

2 1/2 lb Boneless pork loin
3 T Safflower oil
2 1/2 c Green pepper, cored seeded
Cut into 1-inch cube
1 T Garlic, minced
3 c Canned Mexican green
Tomatoes, drained or
Ripe tomatoes, seeded
Chopped
6 oz Can green chilies
Chopped
2 T Cumin
1/4 t Ground cloves
2 T Fresh coriander, chopped
1 c Dry white wine

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut the meat into 1 1/2-inch cubes.  Heat the oil in a pressure
cooker. When it is quite hot, add about 1/3 of the meat cubes. Cook,
stirring, until nicely browned. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the
cubes to a platter.  Add another third of the meat cubes and brown
them. Transfer them to the platter.  Brown the remaining meat cubes
and transfer them to the platter. Add the green peppers to the fat
remaining in the cooker and cook until wilted. Add the garlic and  cook
about 5 second, stirring. Return the meat cubes to the cooker.  Add the
remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover with the lid and  add the
pressure regulator. Cook 20 minutes. Remove the lid according  to the
manufacturer's  instructions. Cook down, uncovered, about 10 minutes or
until the  sauce is reduced slightly. Serve with cumin rice.  This dish
