God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Revelation...is progressive, i.e., cumulative. God has not revealed Himself comprehensively at any one stage in history or in any one event. Revelation is a series of divine disclosures, each of which builds upon and unpacks or unfolds that which preceded it. Revelation moves from what is piecemeal and partial and incomplete (but always accurate) to what is comprehensive and final and unified. This contrast between the incomplete and complete, between the partial and the full, is not a contrast between false and true, inaccurate and accurate, but a contrast between shadow and substance, between type and antitype, between promise and fulfillment.

In Philippians 3, Paul explained how his “righteous merit” exceeded any on the planet. If anyone could have earned heaven it would have been him. Yet Paul knew we can never earn God’s favor. The only hope we have is the righteousness of Jesus Christ given to us as a gift when we embrace Him by faith. Though the specifics are different, the boasts are the same: I was born in America. I grew up in a devout Christian family. I was baptized. I read my Bible and pray every morning. I faithfully attend church. I serve in the church. I participate in the Lord’s Supper each month. I am blameless in my obedience to the Scriptures. All of these are excellent, but when we use them to earn God’s saving favor, they are but “rubbish.”

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Vegetables Vegan Low-fat, Vegan, Vegetables 12 Servings

INGREDIENTS

12 c Water
6 t Vegetable Bouillon granules
4 Tomatoes, fresh or 1-lb can
1/2 c Corn, fresh or canned
1 Celery rib, diced
1 Onion, diced
1/2 c Okra, cut
1/4 c Rice, white or brown
1/8 t Tabasco Sauce, optional
1 c Shredded cabbage, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

Directions: Place all ingredients in a large pot, bring to boil, cover
and simmer about 20 minutes until all vegetables are done. 1-l/2 C
serving equals about 35 calories. NOTE: I use Uncle Ben's Converted
Rice as it seems to hold its shape better in long cooking periods.
Any rice will work if this soup is not reheated several times, but it
usually is! This is a thin soup, I sometimes add shredded cabbage,
chard, bok choy, or other green vegetable to it. The greens make it
thicker and more filling, but add few calories. This doesn't resemble
the real Cajun Gumbo, but is good for those days when you feel you've
over-indulged and need to cut back. I keep in it the fridge and use
it as a snack when I just have to have something else. You can also
add herbs, hot pepper, it is very versatile, and a good starting
recipe. Original, from Files of A. Broaddus/Houston 5/16/93 From

A Message from our Provider:

“A thankful heart is one of the primary identifying characteristics of a believer. It stands in stark contrast to pride, selfishness, and worry. And it helps fortify the believer’s trust in the Lord and reliance of His provision, even in the toughest times. No matter how choppy the seas become, a believer’s heart is buoyed by constant praise and gratefulness to the Lord. #John MacArthur”
