We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Our parents (Adam and Eve) fell for it, and in them we have all fallen for it. It is now part of our nature. We take the mirror of God's image which was intended to reflect His glory in the world, turn our backs to the light, and fall in love with the contours of our own dark shadow, trying desperately to convince ourselves (with technological advances, or management skills or athletic prowess or academic achievements or sexual exploits or counter cultural hair styles) that the dark shadow of the image on the ground in front of us is really glorious and satisfying. In our proud love affair with ourselves we pour contempt, whether we know it or not, on the worth of God's glory.

Meats Beef, Main dish, South afric 1 Servings

INGREDIENTS

8 Bacon
3 c Red wine
6 T Brandy
2 T Olive Oil
6 Carrot, thickly sliced
6 Onions each studded with 4
cloves
2 Cloves garlic, crushed
2 Bay leaf
6 Allspice
1 t Salt
1/2 t Black pepper
1/2 t Dried sage
1/2 t Dried thyme
1 kg Stew meat, cubed and fat
trimmed
3 T Flour
8 Tomatoes peeled and chopped
10 Black mushrooms, halved
1 1/2 c Beef stock

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix all the marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Add the meat to
marinade, stir well to ensure that all the beef is coated. Leave meat
in the marinade for as long as possible. The secret of this dish lies
in the time allowed for marinading and the long, slow cooking that
follows. Place the meat, together with the marinade into a heavy
casserole. Sift in the flour. Add the tomatoes and mushrooms. Cover
with the beef stock and set to cook on lowest temperature possible,
for two to three hours or until the meat is tender. During cooking,
taste for acidity and add a pinch or two of sugar, if necessary. A
little cream may be added to the stew at the end of the cooking
period, if desired. Serve with boiled potatoes. Recipe by: Egoli
