We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

A life of resolve comes with a price tag. You will be tested by the lure of the world. But you must turn a deaf ear to the crowd and live instead for the approbation of Christ. There will always be a cross before a crown, sacrifice before success, and reproach before a reward. The call of discipleship will cost you popularity, possessions, and position. But God will use your commitment. The grace of God will be multiplied in you if you cultivate a fixed resolution to live for the glory of God.
Steven Lawson

If you wish to come into God's kingdom, therefore, you must ask God to rescue you 'from the dominion of darkness' and bring you 'into the kingdom of the Son He loves' (Col. 1:13) You must renounce your deal with the devil and swear allegiance to Christ the King. You must say, in the beautiful words of hymnwriter Frances Havergal, 'Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.'

Bible Reading: JAN06: Genesis 16-18

Today’s reading covers the birth of Ishmael, the
changing of Abram’s name to Abraham, the Abrahamic
covenant confirmed and made everlasting, and the promise
of Isaac.

There is a practical lesson concerning the birth
of Ishmael. Rather than allowing God to work in His own
time and way, Sarah ran ahead of God. This always brings
trouble to our lives. The flesh always loves to “help”
God, while true faith is shown in patience. Sarah
doubted God’s promise that she would bear Abraham a son.
And Abraham ceased to walk in the Spirit and began to
walk in the flesh. Someone has said, “Faith is living
without scheming.” We should never doubt God’s promises.
Remember, we cannot mix faith and flesh, law and grace,
or promise and self-effort.

As Christians, we must be strong and mature so
that we might enjoy the fullness of God’s perfect plan
for our lives.
