Lunch-box Oatmeal Raisin Bars

INGREDIENTS

2/3 c Packed brown sugar
1/3 c Butter or margarine
1/3 c Golden corn syrup
2 1/2 c Rolled oats
1/4 c All-purpose flour
1/2 c Raisin or chopped dried
apricots
1 Large egg
1 t Vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS

In a glass bowl, combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup.  Microwave
at High 2 minutes; stir until smooth.  Microwave 1 minute  more or
until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a full boil.  Stir in rolled
oats, flour and raisins.  In a small bowl, beat egg  with vanilla.
Stir into rolled-oats mixture.  Spread evenly in prepared pan.  Bake
for 20 to 25 minutes or until  golden around edges.  Let cool 10
minutes in pan.  Lift out foil; cut  into 3 by 1 1 1/2 inch bars.
Transfer to a rack to complete cooking.  Yield: 24 bars Typed in
