We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

“Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice” (Phi 4:4). All our joy must terminate in God; and our thoughts of God must be delightful thoughts. Delight thyself in the Lord (Psm. 37:4)… Observe, it is our duty and privilege to rejoice in God, and to rejoice in Him always; at all times, in all conditions; even when we suffer for Him, or are afflicted by Him. We must not think the worse of Him or of His ways for the hardships we meet with in His service. There is enough in God to furnish us with matter of joy in the worst circumstance on earth… Joy in God is a duty of great consequence in the Christian life; and Christians need to be again and again called to it.
Matthew Henry

While our heart for social justice grows out from the gospel, social justice by itself will not communicate the gospel. We need gospel proclamation, for as much as people may see our good deeds, they cannot hear the good news unless we tell them. Social justice, though valuable as an expression of Christian love, should, especially as a churchwide endeavor, serve the goal of gospel proclamation.

INGREDIENTS

2 c Small, preferably
bite-sized red potatoes
3/4 c Fresh, cooked peas
1 T Butter
2 t Cornstarch
1 c Milk
1/2 t Salt
1/8 t Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

After I posted the request to the list for this type of recipe, I got
a call from my mother saying she'd tracked the original one from my
childhood down. (I'm a happy camper now)...so here it is. (You can
have as many potatoes and peas as you like....this is just an amount
to get you started). Boil potatoes and peas separately, until tender.
Combine peas with white sauce and pour over potatoes. White Sauce:
This will make a thin sauce. For a medium-thickness, change butter to
1 1/2 T and 1 T corn starch. For thick sauce, change butter to 2 T
and corn starch to 2 1/2 T. Keep the rest of the ingredients the same.
Melt butter, blend in corn starch, salt, and pepper. Gradually add
milk. Heat to boiling, boil for 2 minutes. Stir constantly. Yields 1 C
sauce. Recipe is from my grandmother...beyond that, I don't know.
