INGREDIENTS

3/4 pt Plus
5 T Boiling milk
11 oz Stale bread or rolls
2 oz Butter or lard
2 Eggs
1 t Baking powder
Salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut rolls or bread into very thin slices. Pour hot, melted fat & milk
over bread & soak for 1 hour. Beat in eggs & baking powder & season
with salt to taste. With wet hands, shape mixture into dumplings. Put
dumplings into boiling, salted water & return water to a boil. Reduce
heat & simmer 20 minutes. Pour browned butter over dumplings.  From the
