God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

What can you do Saturday evening and Sunday morning and on the way to church [to prepare]… for hearing the Word of God preached? 1. Pray that God would give you [a] good and honest heart (Eze. 36:26; Jer. 24:7). 2. Meditate on the Word of God. Read portions of your Bible with a view to stirring up hunger for God. 3. Purify your mind by turning away from worldly entertainment (Jas. 1:21). 4. Trust in the truth that you already have (Jer. 17:7-8). 5. Get a good night’s rest on Saturday night. 6. Forebear one another [before the service] without grumbling and criticism. 7. Come in a spirit of meek teachability (Jas. 1:21). 8. Be still as you enter the room and focus your mind’s attention and heart’s affection on God (Psm. 46:10). 9. When the worship service begins, think earnestly about what is sung and prayed and preached (1 Cor. 14:20; 2 Tim. 2:7). 10. Desire the truth of God’s Word more than you desire riches or food (Psm. 19:10-11; Pr. 2:3-5).
John Piper

God’s call is irresistible in the sense that it can overcome all resistance. It is infallibly effective according to God’s purpose – so much so that Paul can say, “Those whom God called he also justified.” In other words, God’s call is so effectual that it infallibly creates the faith through which a person is justified. All the called are justified. But none is justified without faith (Romans 5:1). So the call of God cannot fail in its intended effect. It irresistibly secures the faith that justifies.

1 t Fine salt
1 t Bicarbonate of soda
3 T Olive oil, plus etxra for
greasing
1 150 gram car natural yogurt
5.29oz
500 g Tomatoes, 1lb
3 T Olive oil
1 Medium-size onion, chopped
finely
1 Red pepper, de-seeded and
chopped
1 Green pepper, de-seeded and
chopped
1 T Chopped fresh thyme or 1
teaspoon dried
thyme
1 T Chopped fresh marjoram or 1
teaspoon
dried marjoram
12 Black olives
250 g Mozarella or Edam cheese
sliced thinly 8oz

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the oven to 200øC/400øF/Gas Mark 6. Put the flour into a
bowl with the salt and bicarbonate of soda. Make a well in the centre
and put in the oil and yogurt. Mix these ingredients together to form
a dough. Turn the dough on to a floured work surface and knead it
lightly until it is smooth. Roll the dough into a 27cm (11-inch)
round. Put it into a 25cm (10 inch) greased pizza tin or pizza plate.
Fold over the edges. Prick the base all over with a fork. Scald, skin
and finely chop 350g (12oz) of the tomatoes. Heat the oil in a frying
pan on a low heat. Put in the onion, garlic and peppers and cook them
until the onion is soft. Put in the chopped tomatoes and herbs.
Simmer, uncovered for 10 minutes. Take the pan from the heat. Stone
and quarter 8 of the olives. Mix them into the tomato mixture. Pour
the tomato mixture on top of the pizza base and lay the cheese on top.
Quarter the remaining olives and slice the reamining tomatoes. Arrange
them on top of the pizza. Bake the pizza for 25 minutes or until the
edges colour. For a pizza for 2 servings, use half quantities and make
the base 18cm (7inches) in diameter. It is not really practical to
make one small enough for one serving; make enough for 2 and reheat it
on another day,or eat it cold. Converted by MC_Buster. Converted by
