True, or False ?

  • The Bible is a historically accurate document
  • Jesus really existed
  • The birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus were prophesied in specific detail throughout the Bible, and all happened as stated – according to the Bible
  • After 3 days, God restored his life, and Jesus was seen and experienced by hundreds of witnesses – according to the Bible
  • Jesus predicted his own death and resurrection – and these things came true, according to the Bible

I believe – and there is evidence to support the facts that all the above are True.

But according to this article, to rid the world of suffering to achieve happiness, to make a meaningful life, we must either:

    1. face up to reality, develop science, transform society, change the real world full of sufferings, to fulfill individuals’ own will and obtain real happiness.
    2. escape reality with a belief in the existence of and salvation by the deity, give up one’s own will, and submit to the will of the deity to attain illusory hope and happiness

The clear implication is that there is no real God, according to the author(s).  The (unproven) belief stated in that article, is that all gods are fabricated as a survival technique.  So, what is the difference between a fabricated and non-fabricated god?

A fabricated (physically or mentally) god never reaches out to us – it can’t, because it’s not real.  For example, the Golden Calf could not save the people of Israel – nor could it save itself from destruction. (Exodus 32:1)

In contrast, a non-fabricated god can reach out to us:

And the Lord came and stood forth, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for thy servant hears.”  1 Samuel 3:10

So what is the difference between a non-fabricated god, and the one true God?  For example, how would someone know they were following Satan, rather than God?

Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour.  1 Peter 5:8

In short, everything Satan touches is eventually destroyed.  He is a liar and a deceiver.  In contrast, God (the Father) stands for truth and life…

  • The Bible refers hundreds of times to what is True and what is False, and always promotes Truth.  (eg. search for ‘false’ at biblegateway.com)
    • Jesus said ““I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.”, John 14:6
      • To clarify, he did not say “I am a way”, or “I am one of the ways” to the Father.  In the early days, Jesus’ followers called their life The Way
        • For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.  Matthew 7:14

Why might so many people be searching for God?  Rather than consider this behavior as a mass-delusion, or an escape from difficult reality – what if all creation is inherently aware of its creator?  If this were true, there would be no excuse for rejecting Him – and the hope of his intervention would be real and available to all…

For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God;  for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of him who subjected it in hope;  because the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the children of God.  We know that the whole creation has been groaning in travail together until now;  and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.  For in this hope we were saved.  Romans 8:19-24

To rid the world of suffering; to achieve happiness, to make a meaningful life, we must carefully consider this third choice:

3. Accept the truth of the One True God, who sent his son Jesus to save us from our sinful ways, and who offers Life and Hope both now and for eternity, if you will follow Him.  The impact of each person following God changes the world in wonderful ways.
