We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

When we read the Bible we need to ask God to grip us by the Bible’s radically disproportionate focus on God’s saving love for sinners seen and accomplished in Jesus Christ.

Though woman who choose to abort may be ignoring God's moral standard in the moment, they rarely escape the lifelong guilt and heartache that results from their tragic choice. They have been designed by God as nurturers (cf. 1 Tim. 2:15; Tit. 2:4); they have God's law written on their conscience (cf. Rom. 2:14-15); and they have often been manipulated into their decision by others (perhaps a boyfriend or husband). As a result, they are often scared by feelings of regret and shame even if they do not know the Lord (cf. Psm 32:3-4).

A prayer from a Queen

Keep me, O Lord, from all pettiness!  Let me be large in thought and word and deed.

Let me leave off self-seeking and be done with faultfinding.

Help me to put away all pretense, that I may meet my neighbor face to face without self-pity and without prejudice.

May I never be hasty in judgment, but generous to all and in all.  Make me grow calm, serene, and gentle.

Teach me to put into action my better impulses, and make me straight-forward and unafraid.

Grant that I may realize that is the trifling things in life which create differences; that in all the higher things we are all one.

And O Lord God, let me not forget to be kind!
