We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

I sometimes wonder that you do not get tired of my preaching, because I do nothing but hammer away on this one nail. With me it is, year after year, "None but Jesus!" Oh, you great saints, if you have outgrown the need of a sinner's trust in the Lord Jesus, you have outgrown your sins, but you have also outgrown your grace, and your saintship has ruined you!
C.H. Spurgeon

It must by now be apparent that the great Puritan pastor-theologians—Owen, Baxter, Goodwin, Howe, Perkins, Sibbes, Brooks, Watson, Gurnall, Flavel, Bunyan, Manton, and others like them—were men of outstanding intellectual power, as well as spiritual insight. In them mental habits fostered by sober scholarship were linked with a flaming zeal for God and a minute acquaintance with the human heart. All their work displays this unique fusion of gifts and graces. In thought and outlook they were radically God-centred. Their appreciation of God's sovereign majesty was profound, and their reverence in handling His written word was deep and constant. They were patient, thorough, and methodical in searching the Scriptures, and their grasp of the various threads and linkages in the web of revealed truth was firm and clear. They understood most richly the ways of God with men, the glory of Christ the Mediator, and the work of the Spirit in the believer and the church.
J.I. Packer

Can The People In Heaven See

Can The People In Heaven See

Question #7

“Can the people in Heaven see what we are doing? Do they know what we think?”

Answer #7

There is nothing in the Bible to indicate that they know what we think. And there is every reason to assume that they could care less. There is nothing in the Bible to indicate that they could see what we were doing and there is every reason to assume that they could care less about that.

Let me tell you something folks, when you go to Heaven, you are lost in wonder, love, and praise. And you will gaze on the Glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. And you will be taken into the rapture of having reached perfection. There will be no desire on the part of anybody to look back here. And there is no indication that they can see back here anyway. There is none.

And I know it is kind of a whimsical thing to think my saintly grandmother, who is now in Heaven, is looking over the edge and watching me. Don’t you believe it. Your saintly grandmother isn’t the least concerned with you and your daily routine. Your saintly grandmother is totally captive to the majestic, unimaginable glories of the eternal dwelling place of God.
