Dear Robert,

As a Bible believer though we are bound to follow the commadments of the Bible, and the Bible is clear in telling us to avoid all “appearance of evil” (I Thess 15:22).

God also gives us the things we are to think on (Phil 4:8). D&D would, in my opinion, fall under both of these [negatively].

Have a super day in Jesus,

Bob

Subj: D&D… EVIL?

Bob,

I don’t pretend to have any direct knowledge of the new “Christian” fantasy games. The reason for that is that after being an avid D&D devotee for several years, I found it necessary to swear off role playing games. Granting that there is very probably a large dose of personal weakness involved on my part, I still find it naive to claim that D&D is alright “as long as one doesn’t get into casting spells”. The sorcery aspect of D&D is unavoidable, as born out by my many experiences in the D&D population in the Columbia/Ellicott City, MD area. There is no such thing as a D&D round that is unaffected by the occult. In order to progress to the highest levels (anything beyond level 15) one must get into pagansism (calling out to false deities). I have to go now.

Subj: REPLY TO MSG# 11990 (RE: D&D… EVIL?)

This is a continuation of my previous message. I had to stop abruptly because someone else had an urgent use for my telephone line.

Anyway, when I had a character that began getting into the upper teens in terms of mastery levels, I was forced BY THE RULES to choose a mythological deity whom I would invoke to allow me to make use of the more extraordinary abilities of which my character was capable. Between that and the obsessive/compulsive behavior which regular play has elicited from nearly all of my friends, I came to the conclusion that D&D is at best a psychologically unhealthy environment, and at worst a demonic device for introducing high school aged children into the world of the occult.

Yours in Messiah Jesus, King of Israel,

David

Ted,

Sorry to interrupt your conversation on D&D, but I had to speak (woof woof). Yes, in college I got involved heavily into D&D.(5-6hrs every night). I am not a mystical or unballanced person. I got involved because I was able to manipulate my “men” to do what I wanted. I treated them as one who was in control. I was the King and they were the serfs. It was great to be DungeonMaster because I WAS IN CONTROL. For me this was my downfall. I lost 40 lbs, flunked 2 classes, came close to losing my fiance’, and was fired from my job. I feel this was because of the influence of D&D on my life. I lost Christ but HE DIDN’T LOSE ME!!!!! Thank the Lord. Do I believe that everybody who plays D&D is going to HHHEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLL. No, But don’t let your eyes get off Christ and to something like this fantasy that can control your life. REMEMBER, EVEN THE ALCOHOLIC SAYS HE DOESN’T HAVE A PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!

Loving Brother in Christ,

Gregg Tulowitzky
