The Kingdom Interlinear Transla

THE KINGDOM INTERLINEAR TRANSLATION (1969 EDITION) DECLARES THAT JESUS CHRIST IS JEHOVAH GOD

The foreward of this Bible says on page 17:

The evidence is, therefore, that the original text of the Christian Greek Scriptures has been tampered with, the same as the text of the LXX has been. And, at least from the third century A.D. onward, the divine name in Tetragrammaton form has been eliminated from the text by copyist who did not understand or appreciate the divine name or who developed an aversion to it, possibly under the influence of AntiSemitism. In place of it they substituted the word KYRIOS (USUALLY TRANSLATED “THE LORD”) and THEOS, MEANING “GOD” (emphasis ours).

In the next paragraph it states:

Every Greek reader must confess that in the LXX, the Greek words KYRIOS and THEOS have been used to crowd out the distinctive names of the Supreme Diety. EVERY COMPREHENSIVE GREEK ENGLISH-DICTIONARY states that these two Greek words have been used as EQUIVALENTS OF THE DIVINE NAME. Hence the modern translator is warranted in using the divine name as an equivalent of those two words… (emphasis ours).

At the bottom of page 18, a footnote quotes A GREEK-ENGLISH LEXICON of the New Testament by J.H. Thayer, where on page 65, Thayer says of Kurios that the title is given to God; and on page 287 Thayer says Theos is equivalent to Jehovah. Other footnotes on the same page show “Kurios = Hebrew Yahweh,” “Kurios, the Lord = Hebrew Jehovah, LXX,” and “Kurios… most usually corresponds to … Jehovah, and in this sense is applied.” An example of this is Revelation 1:8, page 1075 of the K.I.T.

Now looking at Philippians 2:10-11 (page 885 of the K.I.T.), the English translation under the greek text reads: “in order that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend… and every tongue confess out that LORD JESUS CHRIST into the glory of God the Father (emphasis ours). The Greek word for Lord is KURIOS. The footnotes on page 18 make it clear that the verse can properly be rendered: “that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend… and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Jehovah God to the glory of God the Father.”

It is also interesting to note that Jehovah says in Isaiah 45:23, “… that to me every knee should bend down, every tongue will swear…” Obviously, St. Paul has chosen to give honor to Jesus in Philippians 2:10-11.

Page 1032 makes it plain that Jesus Christ is Jehovah. 1 Peter 3:15 says: “But sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts…” (right column). The footnote for verse 15 says: “Sanctify the Christ as LORD… sanctify the Messiah our Lord… sanctify the Lord God, Textus Receptus; SANCTIFY JEHOVAH GOD” (emphasis ours). Therefore, the Christ is to be sanctified as Jehovah God.

The K.I.T. rules also show that in John 1:1 the Greek “theos on ho logos” must be rendered “… and the Word was God,” because page 17 of the foreward says THEOS MEANS GOD. In fact, John 1:1 in the Watchtower rendering says “a god”, but on the same page in the left column, in the English under the Greek rendering, plainly says “the Word was with God.” Also Dueteronomy 32:39 shows that “a god” (cf. John 1:1) could not have been with God: “See now that I, even I AM he, and there is no god with me” (K.J.V.). The word for “god” there is elohim in the Hebrew, meaning any kind of god or angels or demons, etc.

The Kingdom Bible demonstrates Jesus is the “I AM” of Exodus 3:14. On page 467 of the K.I.T., the Greek text reads: “prin Abraham genesthai ego eimi (Before Abraham to become I am). If Jesus had said, “Before Abraham came into existence I have been,” the Greek would have to say, “prin Abraham genesthai ego en” (all recognized Greek scholars agree with this). Exodus 3:14 reads, “Ego eimi ho ohn,” (based on the Septuagint) meaning “I AM THAT I AM,” according to the King James Bible. It can be shown here that Jehovah God actually calls himself both ego eimi and ho ohn, although the footnote on page 467 fails to mention this. However, the Kingdom Interlinear clearly renders ego eimi as I AM in John 8:24, 13:19, and 18:15, thus faithfully demonstrating Jesus’ use of Jehovah’s name.

The K.I.T. shows that Jesus is called THE LORD (ho Kurios) and THE GOD (ho Theos) at John 20:28 from the Greek text. Pages 1158 and 1159 place great emphasis on the article ho before the noun theos to distinguish the true God, therefore John 20:28 meets K.I.T. requirements in proclaiming Jesus as Jehovah God.

The Kingdom Bible also declares the way to salvation: Acts 16:31, “… Believe upon the LORD JESUS, and you will be saved, you and the household of you” (page 621, emphasis ours). See also Romans 10:9, 13, 8:39; 1 Corinthians 15:31, 47; Acts 10:36; John 3:36, 14:6.
