A Letter From A Catholic
Dear Sirs:
A copy of your September 1989 BBB recently fell into my hands. I could hardly believe my eyes. Is it possible in this day of our educated population someone could possibly be so ill-informed.
The front page was filled with hate: “Good Anti-Catholic Literature,” and “Apostate Baptists.”
Your organization is called Bible Baptist Church. I don’t know what you refer to as a Bible, but the King James Version of the Bible teaches LOVE, not HATE!
For starters, open to Romans 13:9-10 . . John 13:34-35 . . Matthew 22:36-40….
In your BBB you teach not LOVE OF GOD, but the hatred of Satan. You cast an evil judgment on children of God. As a believer of the Bible how can you defy Jesus in Matthew 7:1-2. . . Mark 12:28-31 . . . John 4:19-24 . . . John 5:19-47?
Surely Jesus was talking about His Holy Catholic Church when he spoke in John 15:9-27.
Jesus teaches unity, not hatred and division in John 17:20-26.
Surely Jesus must have seen you in the crowd as He hung dying upon the Cross for sin and surely he heard along with the other words of hatred said there your hate filled words about His Holy Catholic Church which He had personally founded to save mankind. And in His tremendous love He held for you He could say (and we Catholics also say) Luke 23:33, “Father forgive them; they do not know what they are doing.”
Please, if you profess to be followers of Jesus Christ, love as Christ loved and do not preach hate and meanness about the Church that Jesus, Himself, founded and continues to love, cherish and guide to this day.
Let those who do not accept Christ be able to look upon the holy relationship of Christians of all denominations and be able to say of us what the pagans of the first century were able to say: “See these Christians, how they love one another.”
May the peace and love of Jesus Christ be with you. Joseph S. Lizor, Jr.
A Loving Catholic Priest
