Humanism In Modern Christian Vo
(This is a continuation of Dr.
Ruckman’s critique of a publication by
the Seventh Day Adventist Church
(Ministry: International Journal for
Clergy), which is filled with “earmarks” of humanism in modern Christian
vocabulary.
19. “THE INSIGHT THAT GIVES NEW PERSPECTIVES.” This phrase has never
been connected one time in the history
of civilization with ANY new knowledge
anyone got on ANYTHING. It is a
hackneyed cliche meaning “By altering
the truth we look at sin in a better
light.” It is an earmark of a jackass.
20. “COPING, SHARING, AND
CARING.” All three mean about the same thing: survival making people think they are equal, and taking money out of other people’s pockets to make friends with.
The word “COPING” meant to “deal with something” or to “handle a
situation.” Now it means since there is “stress” and “tension” (two more
hackneyed cliches) all the time in
dealing with anyone, anywhere, in any
situation, you have to become an expert in “coping” and therefore have to have
three hundred semester hours from a
preacher, minister, teacher, or
“counsellor” on how to keep your wife
from suing you, your kids from running
away from home, or how to avoid a
complete nervous and mental breakdown.
These are the substitutes for CHARACTER and WISDOM, which can “cope” with
anything including divorce, fornication, adultery, AIDS, depression, debt,
poverty, war, sickness, hell, or the
devil. You can “COPE” without CHARACTER or WISDOM, so the watchword is “coping.”
“SHARING” is a word like
“science”; it can mean anything and can be applied to any operation. You don’t preach the word, you “share it.” You
don’t witness for Christ, you “share
Him.” You don’t quote a verse of
Scripture, you “share it.” You don’t
take up an offering or receive an
offering, you “share it.” You don’t
broadcast a message, you “share it.”
You don’t give anyone a dime, you
“share” your wealth, etc. THE WORD IS
FROM MARXISM; it is a reference to you
giving away (under military pressure)
what belongs to you to support those who are dedicated to taking every last dime you’ve got.
“CARING” means you read a MORAL IMPLICATION into the Civil Rights Act,
the Great Society, the War on Poverty,
etc., so that you are compelled to
encourage race-mixing, acceptance of
homosexuals, free handouts to bums,
government jobs for Communists and
double taxation to take care of
illegitimate children and abortions.
In such a godless soup the Bible is “out of sight.”
21. An “IN-DEPTH STUDY,” i.e.,
shallow as a mud puddle and just as
muddy. There are no “in-depth” studies in ninety percent of the publications
that profess such a thing. An “indepth”
study usually means a lot of
nonessentials are covered that have
nothing to do with anything and a lot of ancient, destructive material from the
fourth century, B.C. (philosophers) is
resurrected. In the case of Bible
studies it simply means a REHASH of dead orthodox apostates from the eighteenth
to nineteenth centuries. The latest
“in-depth study of dope heads” refers to DRUNKARDS as “SUBSTANCE ABUSERS.”
22. “THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH IN
MOTIVATING.” Blank. The “role” is a
blank, the “motivating” is blank. One
term is from international socialists in the NEA, the other is from salesmanship tapes and videos that began with The
Power of Positive Thinking. They are
earmarks.
23. “GUIDED CONFRONTATION.” A
substitute for the “encounter.” THERE
ARE NO CONFRONTATIONS; the guy is in
FRONT of you, or BEHIND you, or BESIDE
you, or slap out of sight. In sports it is called “one-on-one” (a “face-off” in hockey), but “inner support groups” who are “emotionally involved” have more
“impact” on the “data” because
“alternatives” can be suggested, etc.,
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.
THESE ARE NOT BIBLE BELIEVING
PEOPLE NOR ARE THEY RELATED TO THEM.
These are AMATEUR PSYCHOLOGISTS who
worship the gods of the NEA and the
NAACP.
So here we have given a very
brief sampling of what we may call “THE EARMARKS OF THE JACKASS”: the puffed-up and bloated “educator” who is trying to impress people with his knowledge of
psychology, sociology, and the
“humanities.” The language is replete
with terms from computers, the college
lab, the Associated Press, CBS, NBC, the Charismatics, and above all the AMORAL, NON-ETHICAL, non-committed, undefinable GENERALIZATIONS of the National
Education Association, which has fought for fifty years to produce a vocabulary that avoids any reference to RIGHT and
WRONG or GOOD and EVIL. Modern
fundamentalists have at last yielded to the temptation to pose as “educators”
and so have picked up the vocabulary.
You can spot the earmarks every time.
“PRIORITIES,” “TOTAL THRUST,”
“the dynamics of the matter,”
“clarification of values,” “utilizing
the criteria,” “meaningful
relationships,” “ultimate validation,”
“religious affirmation” (Affirmative
Action), “commitment,” “FOCUS,” “in
terms of,” “sectarian mentality,”
“significant thrust,” “related
structure,” “enriched curriculum,”
“where the minority can IDENTIFY,” “a
scientific breakthrough,” “a new era of dialogue,” “the IMPACT of this
ministry,” “restructuring VALUES,”
“counterproductive,” etc., etc.
THESE ARE THE MARKS. They are
the marks of a Christian WHO IS SPENDING HIS TIME DAY AND NIGHT WITH TV,
MAGAZINES, NEWSPAPERS, AND SMOOTH, SLICK LITERATURE. The entire vocabulary is
removed TOTALLY from Biblical attitude, approach, concepts (there is one!),
teaching, application, or spirit. And, strangely enough, the men who are the
farthest REMOVED from Biblical
Christianity are the ones who keep
recommending (and translating and
revising) “new,” more “readable”
translations in order to get people
interested in the Bible. THESE MEN ARE NOT INTERESTED IN THE BIBLE. They refer to the Bible believers as a cult or as
“Ruckmanites.” Their strong suit is
DEPRAVED EGOTISM. Their VOCABULARY
gives them away. It is not the STREET
VOCABULARY of any generation that needs the word of God in “common language” in order to “understand” its message; it is the CLASSICAL CLASSROOM VOCABULARY OF
THE UNSAVED AMATEUR SOCIOLOGIST WHO IS
TRYING TO IMPRESS PEOPLE WITH HIS “UPTO
-DATENESS.”
He haw! Jackasses can be
spotted by their EAR marks.
If you want your “teenager” to
be able to “adjust” to the “contemporary LIFESTYLES” of the “nuclear age,” so
that his life will be “meaningfully
relevant”–since it is properly
motivated by “Christian principles”–
then SHARE an EDUCATIVE OPPORTUNITY with him to “enrich him” in the areas of
“coping” and “caring” so that he may
“reach out and touch” those “church
related ministries” where “receptors and communicators” can VALIDATE the renewed EMPHASIS on the EXPANDED world view;
i.e., plug the sucker into a college
curriculum and watch him come out as a
jackass.
“SLANG” IS MORE SCIPRUTRAL THAN A COLLEGE CURRICULUM IN SOCIOLOGY AND
THE HUMANITIES. SLANG is the COMMON,
ORDINARY STREET LANGUAGE of any
generation. Where your speech is not
BIBLICAL from the book–heaven, hell,
right, wrong, good, bad, just, unjust,
white, black, up, down, hot, cold,
compassion, hardness, sin, death, devil, dung, vile, filthy, righteous, holy,
godly, ungodly, fool, ass, hypocrite,
saint, reprobate, faith, hope, charity, bless, curse, revile, damnation,
eternal, etc.–the best thing for you to use is the language you hear on the
street, in the stadium, in the hospital, at the police station, in the barracks, in the barrooms, on the car lots, and in the stores. “SOUND SPEECH THAT CANNOT BE CONDEMNED” would of course EXCLUDE
filthy language of references to
pornography, fornication, etc., in THOSE vocabularies, but don’t kid yourself;
muttonhead, meatball, sucker, bombed
out, “the pits,” jackleg, “tap city,”
blockhead, lush, drunk, dope head, bum, idiot, stuffed shirt, stumble bum,
apostate, klutz, wimp, droid, goon,
rubber room, and funny farm are SOUND
LANGUAGE AND SOUND SPEECH compared to
the socialistic drivel that you are
getting from modern “militant” colleges and universities. They follow the
world’s PRECEPTS and EXAMPLE, and their vocabular betrays them; they are out to IMPRESS, not bless; they are for selfpromotion
instead of discipleship; they
stand for TOP-HEAVY, HIGH MINDEDNESS,
not spiritual humility; and they are in the MONEY racket, not the BIBLE BRACKET.
Hearken to the braying in the
pastures!
See the long ears? See how they tickle (II Tim. 4:1-6)? “Insight,
reinforced, restructured, areas, total, dynamic, thrust, meaningful, values,
roles, resources, enrichment,
involvement, commitment, principles,
criteria, validation, programmed,
communicate, touch, share, care, relate, relationship, outreach, conceptual,
evolves, priorities, corporate lif, more vocal, role models, self-image, low
profile, self-rejection, in touch with
oneself, world processor, graphics,
etc.”
HEAR THE PRETTY LITTLE DUMBBELL, HONEY? See the little college-educated jackass, flopping his ears?
