See The World 59 B7-22-4P SEE THE WORLD MK. 10:21
“Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and take up the cross, and follow me.
INTRODUCTION: JESUS’ EXAMPLE OF HOW TO WITNESS TO THE LOST
I. HE LOOKED UPON HIM — WE MUST SEE THE WORLD AS JESUS SEES IT
- He had previously talked to the young man – Now, behold him.
- We must see the world as,
- Our neighbor
- An Eternal Soul
- Doomed without God’s help
II. HE LOVED HIM — WE MUST SEE THE WORLD AS INDIVIDUAL SOULS
- God loved us so much that,
- He traded His Son for us
- He called until we answered
- He adopted us into His family
- We must love others
- We must not love their sinful ways
- We must not fellowship in their sin
- We must love them for what they can become
- This kind of love requires God’s help
- Not “eros” love (fleshly love)
- Not “phileo” love (brotherly love – no relation)
- This is “agape” love (the divine love)
III. HE LED HIM TO THE POINT OF CHOICE – WE CAN DO NO MORE
- Not a bunch of “put-downs”
- Some folks will point out every fault and scare away
- Some want the fish cleaned before they catch them
- Show how to receive great rewards (“Do this and be blessed”)
- We have sinned and are guilty
- Death is the proper penalty
- Jesus died to pay that debt
- We receive pardon by accepting Christ’s sacrifice
- As sons of God, we can draw from heaven’s treasury
- Each person must make his own choice.
- No one can be forced to accept Christ
- We pray for them that God will continue dealing with them
- Conviction proves that He is still calling
CONCLUSION: JESUS LOOKED, LOVED, LED
- Looked upon his pitiful situation
- Loved him with divine love
- Led him to make a choice
- We must use all opportunities to follow His example
ALTAR CALL
- Not everyone chooses this free pardon. This man did not.
- You too may leave here choosing to hold on to things rather than accept the Grace of God.
- YOU must make that choice. Choose carefully.
