INTRODUCTION:

  1. Four clergymen were discussing the merits of various translations of the Bible. One liked the KJV best because of its simple beautiful English. Another liked the American Revised Version best because it is more literal and comes nearer the original Hebrew and Greek Still another liked Moffat’s translation best because of its up-to-date vocabulary. The fourth minister was silent. Finally he said, “I like my mother’s translation best. She translated it into life, and it was the most convicing translation I ever saw.” NAE News
  2. May our lives be a translation of the Bible into life
  3. THE EFFECT OF ADAM’S LIFE
  4. His life taught rejection of God
  5. “My life is my own business and I will do as I please.”
    1. Cain watched and translated Adam’s sin into murder (Abel)
    2. Lamech (of Cain) continued the life of murder some five generations later.
    3. Within a very few generations, “God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
    4. In time, all the earth perished save eight souls
  6. Adam’s sin brought a sinful nature into the heart of all
  7. Adam’s sin brought a condemnation to death upon all

II. THE EFFECT OF CHRIST’S LIFE

  1. Example of perfect living without sin
  2. Example of perfect love from God
  3. All of the world has been effected by Him (Read “No greater contrasts” ribbon)
  4. Because of His life, I can live and not die
    1. Justification is possible for all
    2. New birth makes possible a holy life
  5. Because He died I can live forever (in glory)

III. THE EFFECT OF YOUR LIFE

  1. Are you an encouragement to others
    1. Do you lift up or tear down
    2. Do you discuss problems with God or man
    3. Can you be trusted or do you gossip
  2. Are you an ambassador of God
    1. Do your attitudes and actions reveal Christ
    2. If Christ were like you would men get saved
  3. Are you a mirror of Christ (Mt. 5:16)
    1. Pure in conversation
    2. Ph. 4:8, Whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, If there be any virtue, praise THINK ON THESE THINGS
    3. Comforted and faithful in trials
