III. WORSHIP IS SPIRITUAL
- The text tells us that the Head nourishes the body
- When we worship God in Spirit and in Truth, we are blessed
- Dependence on Christ and interdependence on each other develops unity in the body of Christ
- We increase with the “increase of God.”
- Attendence and offerings in church will increase
- Spiritually the church will increase
- Individually, we will all increase with the INCREASE OF GOD
- Worship assures a reward
- Down here it rewards us with a sense of communion with our God
- In heaven, (I Cor. 15:58), “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
ALTAR CALL
- Last verse in the Psalms (150:6), “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.”
- God the Father is seeking for people to worship Him in spirit and in truth (cf. Jn. 4:23)
- Plan of worship used by Legion:
- Ran to Jesus
- Revealed his need
- Stayed until need was met
- Imitated Jesus (clothes, mind, desire to learn)
- Wanted to stay in church
- Obeyed the command to “go”
- If we WORSHIP God and do so in the RIGHT WAY, we will:
- Be blessed spiritually
- Be increased
- Be rewarded
