God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
The basic task of the church is to teach sound doctrine. It is not to give one pastor's opinion, to recite tear-jerking illustrations that play on emotions, to raise funds, to present programs and entertainment, or to give weekly devotionals. In Titus 2:1 Paul writes, 'But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.'
Basic principles in confronting and rebuking in love:
1. Guard your attitude against pride, vindictiveness and impatience, but especially against anger.
2. Resist making quick accusations – you may not have all the facts straight and you may be wrong.
3. Think of all the words you will use. Furthermore choose the right place and time.
4. Use patience and Scripture.
5. Be gentle with people which means to be kind, tender, gracious and calm – not harsh or combative.
6. Balance reproof and encouragement and hope.
7. Pray for wisdom, courage and self-control. Also pray that the Lord would prepare the other person or persons to receive your reproof.

On a very low flame, heat up the butter and sour cream and parsley flakes
until combined. Heat until hot but not boiling. Remove from flame and
immediately stir in slightly beaten egg yolk and cheese.
This recipe, on further analysis, is too difficult for a person on
crutches. Have your children make it.
