God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
Sleep is a daily reminder from God that we are not God. Once a day God sends us to bed like patients with a sickness. The sickness is a chronic tendency to think we are in control and that our work is indispensable. To cure us of this disease God turns us into helpless sacks of sand once a day. How humiliating to the self-made corporate executive that He has to give up all control and become as limp as a suckling infant every day.
Yes, our deeds of mercy is a platform to help people believe the Gospel, but that is not the primary reason for mercy. Mercy is ultimately a natural expression from those who already believe the Gospel.
Trim fat off pork chops. Brown chops in oil in a heavy skillet. Drain off
any fat. Mix 1 cup water to onion soup mix. pour over the chops. Cover
skillet and simmer until chops are tender (40-45 minutes).
Add evaporated milk and mushrooms to pan. Combine flour and 1/4 cup cold
water. Blend into pan juices. Cook and stir under low heat until thick and
bubbly. Sprinkle with parsley.
