INSTRUCTIONS
1. Spread oats on a baking sheet; toast in 350 oven, stirring occasionally,
until golden (12-15 minutes). Mix oats, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and
if desired, salt in a large bowl. In a medium sized bowl, beat milk, syrup,
juice, egg and egg whites until blended. Stir in apple and raisins. Add egg
mixture to flour mixture; stir until evenly moistened. 2. Preheat a waffle
iron following manufacturer's directions. Grease iron; fill three-quarters
full of batter. Bake until golden and crisp (6-8 minutes). Transfer to a
plate and keep warm in a 200 degree oven while making remaining waffles.
Offer with butter and syrup. Makes about twelve 4- inch square waffles.
