INGREDIENTS
| 1/2 | c | Soft Shortening |
| 1 | lg | Egg |
| 2 | c | Sugar |
| 1 1/2 | c | Applesauce |
| 2 1/2 | c | Sifted Flour |
| 1 1/2 | ts | Baking Soda |
| 1 1/2 | ts | Salt |
| 3/4 | ts | Cinnamon |
| 1/2 | ts | Cloves |
| 1/2 | ts | Allspice |
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix shortening, sugar and egg. Add the applesauce. Mix flour with spices. Add to applesauce mixture. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Add 1 cup raisins. Pour into oblong cake pan. Bake in a 350°F oven for 45 to 50 minutes. If you use a square dish bake for 35 to 40 minutes. If deeper bake longer. Test for doneness with a toothpick. From: Syd's Cookbook.
