God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
I am not discounting the Holy Spirit's power to capture, convict, and change people through His Word. We are always utterly dependent on Him, and we are never called to do His work. But the Holy Spirit has commissioned us, and our job is to do everything we can to be sharp instruments in His redemptive hands.
If you stop and ask yourself why you are not so devoted as the (early) Christians, your own heart will tell you that it is neither through ignorance nor inability, but purely because you never thoroughly intended it.
1. Place vegetable oil in large stockpot. Add onios, potatoes, carrots and
celery; saute 25-30 minutes or until vegetables are cooked. 2. Add
remaining ingredients. Combine thoroughly. Simmer 20 minutes over low heat,
stirring occasionally. Serve hot.
Makes 25 one cup servings.
