God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
In the last analysis, this is what preaching to the heart is intended to produce: inner prostration of the hearts of our listeners through a consciousness of the presence and the glory of God. This distinguishes authentic biblical, expository preaching from any cheap substitute for it; it marks the difference between preaching about the Word of God and preaching the Word of God.
Ultimately, men learn masculinity from God. God is not male. He does not have a body. But God is pure, unadulterated masculinity. Ultimately, He alone is the Christian father’s role model. His masculinity expresses itself as the willingness to initiate…the willingness to initiate is the heart and soul of God’s masculinity. God serves us by initiating. He initiated creation. He initiated our redemption. He came to us in the incarnation. We didn’t go to Him. This willingness is most likely what God means when He refers to Himself with masculine pronouns. Although God does not have a male body, He is the ultimate initiator. He is the ultimate servant-leader. In this sense, God the Father is absolute masculinity.
Bacon; crisply cooked and crumbled (about 1/2 cup)
INSTRUCTIONS
HEAT waffle iron; grease if necessary. Beat baking mix, milk and eggs
with wire whisk or hand beater until smooth. Stir in cheese and bacon.
POUR batter by scant 1 cupfuls onto center of hot waffle iron.
BAKE until steaming stops and waffle is golden brown. Carefully remove
waffle. Twelve 4-inch squares.
