God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

When Jesus warns us not to store up treasures on earth, it's not just because wealth might be lost; it's because wealth will always be lost. Either it leaves us while we live, or we leave it when we die. No exceptions… Realizing its value is temporary should radically affect our investment strategy… According to Jesus, storing up earthly treasures isn't simply wrong. It's just plain stupid.

What, after all, is church membership? I would argue that it is a covenant grounded in the affirmations of both the church through the elders, and the member. That is, the member publicly affirms both his dependence on the finished work of Christ alone, his affirmation of the faith once delivered, and his willingness to submit to the church. The church, on the other hand, affirms its conviction, through the elders of the credibility of the profession of faith of the member, and vows to serve and protect the member through the means of grace, including faithful church discipline. To put it more simply, the undershepherds affirm the sheepness of the member, the member the undershepherdness of the elders.

Vegetables, Eggs, Dairy American Vegetable 8 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 (5-7 lb) pumpkin
6 Whole eggs
2 c Whipping cream
1/2 c Brown sugar
1 tb Molasses
1/2 ts Fresh grated nutmeg
1 ts Cinnamon
1/4 ts Ginger
2 tb Butter

INSTRUCTIONS

This dish was a favorite of George Washington. While it was called a pie
in the old days, it's certainly not what we call a pie now. Here the
custard pie is found inside the pumpkin and the whole thing is to be served
up with a bit of anticipation for a very different pumpkin dessert.
Cut the lid off the pumpkin just as you would for a jack-o'-lantern.
Remove the seeds and save for toasting later.
Mix the remaining ingredients together with the exception of the butter.
Fill the pumpkin with this mixture and top with the butter. Cover with the
pumpkin lid and place in a baking pan. Bake at 350° for 1 to 1-1/2 hours,
or until the mixture has set like a custard.
Serve from the pumpkin at your table, scraping some of the meat from the
pumpkin with each serving.
This is an interesting substitution for the usual pumpkin pie.
