God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
If there were such a thing as a seeker, what would he be seeking? The church growth movement seems to believe he would be seeking more of the same. In a world consumed with lighthearted entertainment, we offer up less professional, less entertaining lighthearted entertainment? Why, I keep wondering, would a “seeker” get up on a Sunday morning, and travel to some giant box to hear a third rate rock band preceding a third rate comic giving a third rate “message” that leaves him in the same state that he arrived in?
When did Christ defeat Satan? Well, it was predicted immediately after the fall in the third chapter of the Bible, when it says Christ will “bruise [Him] on the head” (Gen. 3:15). 1 John 3:8, “The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil” (cf. Jn. 12:31). We see this victory ultimately happen through His Passion when our Savior defeated the devil and dealt Him a mortal wound. Hebrews 2:14, “That through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.” Colossians 2:15, “When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.” And then He, 1 Peter 3:22, ascended to “the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.” The war is over. The mission is completed. Satan is defeated. And while he still, 1 Peter 5:8, “Prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour,” his ultimate defeat is guaranteed. Romans 16:20, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” Revelation 20:10, “And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”

Salgadinhos are small, usually savoury, fried appetizers that are a large
part of Brazil's before dinner rituals. They are frequently balls of fish,
cheese, or vegetables which are served with a variety of spicy sauces.
These cheese balls would be prepared from the wonderful white cheese that
comes from Minas Gerais in Brazil. Here a mixture of Parmesan and
Mozzarella is substituted.
Mix the cheeses together in a large glass or ceramic bowl. Beat the egg
whites into stiff peaks in another large bowl; and add them to the cheese,
and fold in well. Form the mixture into balls and roll them in the flour.
Meanwhile, heat 4 or 5 inches of oil in a large heavy saucepan to 350 to
375^F over medium-high heat.
Drop in the cheese balls a few at a time and fry them until they are a
golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper
towels. Serve hot with cocktails.
