We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

To say that God is faithful or consistent is not to imply, however, that He is predictable. Much bitterness toward God results from a misconception of this. Too often we speculate and try to guess the actions of God and, therefore, develop expectations. Through our limited and often perverted reasoning, we determine the “best” for our lives and then consider God's only reasonable response to be one of quick and complete fulfillment.

Here are 10 specific ways you can pray today for members of our persecuted family: 1. Pray they will sense God’s presence (Heb. 13:5). 2. Pray they will know we are praying for them (2 Tim. 1:3). 3. Pray they will experience God’s comfort (2 Thes. 2:16-17). 4. Pray they will see God open doors for evangelism (Col. 4:3). 5. Pray they will boldly share the gospel (Acts 4:29). 6. Pray they will mature in their faith (Col. 1:28-29). 7. Pray they will be granted wisdom in covert ministry work (Acts 9:23-25). 8. Pray they will remain joyful amid suffering (Acts 5:41). 9. Pray they will be able to forgive and love their persecutors (Matt 5:44). 10. Pray they will be deeply rooted in God’s Word (2 Tim. 3:16-17) (Voice of the Martyrs).

INGREDIENTS

1 3 lb. Chicken
1 Bay leaf
1 Medium onion, quartered
1 Whole clove
2 Ripe tomatoes, quartered
1 Carrot, cut into 1" pieces
1/4 c Chopped celery leaves
20 Black peppercorns, tied in
A piece of cheesecloth
1/2 c Uncooked white rice
Salt & freshly ground black
Pepper
3 Carrots, thinly sliced on
The diagonal
1/4 c Finely chopped flat-leaf
Parsley

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Wash the chicken thoroughly. Remove the skin and any pieces of fat.
Pin the bay leaf to 1 onion quarter with the clove. Place the
chicken in a large pot with the tomatoes, onion quarters, 1 carrot,
celery leaves, and peppercorn bundle. Add 10 cups cold water and
bring to a boil. Using a ladle, skim off the fat and foam that rise
to the surface. Reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour, skimming often
to remove the fat. 2. Remove the chicken from the broth and let cool.
Strain the broth into
a large saucepan, pressing the vegetables to extract the juices.
(There should be about 8 cups of broth.) Pull the chicken meat off
the bones and shred or finely dice it. 3. Add the rice, salt, and
pepper to the broth and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add the thinly sliced carrots and celery to the soup with the shredded
chicken and half the parsley. Simmer the soup for another 10 minutes,
or until the rice is tender. Correct the seasoning, adding salt and
pepper to taste. Sprinkle with the remaining parsley and serve at
once. ~--
