We Love God!

In the Puritan tradition George Whitefield wonderfully exemplified in his preaching a stable understanding of divine sovereignty and human responsibility. He used to place lost sinners in a vice. He pressed home the necessity of repentance. But the lost sinner is a slave. He cannot repent. Yet to be saved he must repent. He cannot. He must. His only recourse is to look away from himself to the one who can save. His escape route is cut off. There is no help in himself. His only hope is to call on God for mercy. And a God of mercy will never cast out those who come to Him in faith.

[Original sin] does not refer to Adam’s first sin, but to the guilt and tendency to sin with which we are born. It is 'original' in that it comes from Adam, and it is also original in that we have it from the beginning of our existence as persons, but it is still our sin, not Adam’s sin, that is meant (Wayne Grudem and Jeff Purswell).

    INGREDIENTS

    14 oz Fat-free sweetened condensed milk
    1 1/2 c Cold water
    3 oz Fat-free vanilla pudding mix
    1 ts Almond extract
    2 c Cool Whip® Free; thawed
    10 oz Low-fat pound cake; cut into ten slices
    21 oz Cherry pie filling; chilled

    INSTRUCTIONS

    In a mixing bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk, water, pudding mix, and
almond extract. Mix until well blended. Fold in whipped topping. Spoon half
mixture into a 13 x 9" pan. Top with cake slices, pie filling, and
remaining cream mixture. Chill until ready to serve.
Per serving: 269 Calories; 2g Fat (7% calories from fat); 5g Protein; 57g
Carbohydrate; 4mg Cholesterol; 255mg Sodium
NOTES : Refrigerate leftovers.
