God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
[In reference to the temptation in the garden] 'God is a liar,' (Satan) says. 'He has deceived you, taken your freedom, and restricted your joy.' Satan's lie is still the same today: 'You can be free. Do whatever you want. It is your life. There are no divine laws; no absolute authority; and above all, no judgment. You will surely not die.'
The name Emmanuel takes in the whole mystery. Jesus is "God with us." He had a nature like our own in all things, sin only excepted. But though Jesus was "with us" in human flesh and blood, He was at the same time very God.
Heat oven to 350. Beat sugar, peanut butter and margarine unti fluffy.
Blend in water, egg and vanilla; add combined dry ingredients, mixing well.
Shape into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet; flatten with
glass dipped in sugar. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool
completely.
In saucepan over low heat, melt cocolate and shortening stirring constantly
until smooth.* Top each cookie with 1/2 tsp. chocolate; sprinkle with nuts.
Chill until set.
*Note: Place chocolate and shortening in glass container; microwave at HIGH
1 to 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute and then every 30 seconds until
smooth.
