I think of all the questions that I ask the Lord, and then I think of my stubborn streak against Him; I think of my inability or refusal to learn. I think of how many times God shows me the way of righteousness and how I turn away. I think of my faltering and failing steps and my outright rebellion against Him – even as a believer. Oh the patience of God and the riches of His forbearance and grace!
The supreme example of controlling, directing influence which God exerts upon the wicked is the Cross of Christ with all its attendant circumstances. If ever the superintending providence of God was witnessed, it was there. From all eternity God had predestined every detail of that event of all events. Nothing was left to chance or the caprice of man. God had decreed when and where and how His blessed Son was to die… Not a thing occurred except as God had ordained, and all that He had ordained took place exactly as He purposed.
BAKE at 400 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes. MAKES about 7 dozen cookies. Sift
together flour, cinnamon, and soda. Cream butter. Gradually add sugar,
creaming well. Blend in egg, milk, melted chocolate, vanilla, and nuts. Add
the dry ingredients; mix well. Shape dough into roll 2 inches in diameter.
Wrap in waxed paper or aluminum foil; chill at least 6 hours. Cut into
1/8-inch slices; place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in moderately hot
oven (400 degrees) 6 to 8 minutes. *For use with Pillsbury's Best
Self-Rising Flour, omit soda.
