We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Man’s method of sanctification is by law, God’s method of sanctification is by the Gospel; the former is by works, the latter is by faith, unto works.
James Buchanan

When our inequity had come to its full height, and it was clear beyond all mistaking that retribution in the form of punishment and death must be looked for, the hour arrived in which God had determined to make known from then onwards His loving-kindness and His power. How surpassing is the love and tenderness of God! In that hour, instead of hating us and rejecting us and remembering our wickedness against us, He showed how long-suffering He is. He bore with us, and in pity He took our sins upon Himself. He gave His own Son as a ransom for us – the holy for the wicked, the sinless for sinners, the just for unjust, the incorrupt for the corrupt, the immortal for the mortal. For was there, indeed, anything except His righteousness that could have availed to cover our sins? In whom could we, in our lawlessness and ungodliness, have been made holy, but in the Son of God alone? O sweet exchange! O unsearchable working! O benefits unhoped for! – that the wickedness of multitudes should thus be hidden in the One holy, and the holiness of One should sanctify the countless wicked!

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Meats, Dairy, Grains Mexican Mexican, Soups, Ceideburg 2 6 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1/3 c Coarsely chopped sweet onion, such as Vidalia
2 1/2 c Cold chicken broth, all fat removed
3 Thoroughly ripe avocados
1 1/2 c Buttermilk
1 dr Almond extract (optional)
pn Of sugar (optional)
Salt to taste
2 Jalapeno peppers, seeds and veins removed, cut into very small dice
3 To 5 tablespoons minced cilantro
Crisp tortilla chips to accompany

INSTRUCTIONS

Place the onions in a blender or processor and add 1 cup of the Puree
as fine as possible. Peel and chunk in 2 1/2 of the avocados,
reserving the remaining half for garnish. Puree again, adding broth
as necessary.
Transfer the soup to a large bowl. Add any remaining broth the
buttermilk to the blender and whir briefly to pick as much avocado as
possible. Add to the soup, along with the extract and sugar, if
desired.
Both of these rather surprising ingredients enhance avocado when used
in tiny amounts. Stir well, taste and adjust the salt. The soup may
be made to this in advance and refrigerated several hours, but for
best flavor allow it to warm up a bit before serving. It should be
cold but not icy.
Peel the remaining half avocado cut into very thin slices. Divide
soup-among six serving bowls and top with the sliced avocado, and
coriander. Serve accompanied by the tortilla chips.
Makes 6 servings.
