[The Puritans believed in] the supreme importance of preaching. To the Puritans, the sermon was the liturgical climax of public worship. Nothing, they said, honours God more than the faithful declaration and obedient hearing of His truth. Preaching, under any circumstances, is an act of worship, and must be performed as such. Moreover, preaching is the prime means of grace to the church.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1). …When these words were first written, they presented a challenge to all religions of the world. They made a claim for the God of Israel, the God of the Bible: He alone is God; He alone is the Creator. Ever since, they have challenged the philosophies and world views of mankind, and continue to do so today. They affirm, without reservation, that the universe in which we live is not an accident, not the chance result of “nature” or “evolution.” It is the handiwork of the living God.
Saute vegetables in butter until well done, but not brown. Blend flour
well into mixture. Pour in milk gradually and stirring constantly. Add egg
yolk, salt, red and black peppers and cook for 5 minutes. Add crabmeat to
sauce, blend well and transfer into a lightly greased casserole dish.
Sprinkle top with cheese and bake in 375 F. oven for 15 or 20 minutes or
