It is natural...for us to trust in ourselves. It is so natural, and so confirmed by the habits of a lifetime, that no ordinary difficulties or perplexities avail to break us of it. Is it not by coming, again and again, to the limit of our resources, and being compelled to feel that unless there is a wisdom and a love at work on our behalf, immeasurably wiser and more benign than our own, life is a moral chaos?... INGREDIENTS

4		Ramekins or individual casseroles
8		Link sausages
8		Eggs
1/2	c	Butter
8	tb	Half and half (or milk)
		Chives; chopped
2	c	Grated cheddar cheese
		Salt
		Pepper
		Tabasco
		Paprika

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 450&deg;. Cook link sausages and set aside. Coddle eggsby
placing in a pan of cold water and bringing to a boil. Remove from heat.
Place 1 Tablespoon of butter and 2 Tablespoons of Half and Half (or milk)
in each casserole. Place in oven just long enough to melt the butter. Take
out of oven and place 2 link sausages in each casserole on the sides of the
dish, break 2 eggs in the center of each casserole, and sprinkle with salt,
pepper, Tabasco and chives. Cover with cheese. Sprinkle with paprika. Place
in hot oven. Watch carefully. Cook only until set, about 5 minutes. Serve
immediately. Yield: 4 servings.
