If you have assurance, be careful you do not lose it; keep it, for it is your life… Keep assurance. First, by prayer, Ps. 36:10, “O continue Thy lovingkindness.” Lord, continue assurance; do not take away this privy seal from me. Secondly, keep assurance by humility. Pride estrangeth God from the soul; when you are high in assurance, be low in humility. St. Paul had assurance, and he baptizeth himself with this name, “Chief of sinners,” 1 Tim. 1:15. The jewel of assurance is best kept in the cabinet of a humble heart.

A Disease?

  1. If it is a disease, it is the only disease that is contracted by an act of will.
  2. It is the only disease that requires a license to propagate.
  3. It is the only disease that is bottled and sold.
  4. It is the only disease that requires outlets to spread.
  5. It is the only disease that produces revenue for the government.
  6. It is the only disease the provokes crime.
  7. It is the only disease that is habit forming.
  8. It is the only disease that is spread by advertising.
  9. It is the only disease for which we are fined for contracting.
  10. It is the only disease which brings death on the highways.
  11. It is the only disease without a germ or virus cause, and which there is no human corrective medicine.
  12. Last but not least, it is the only disease that bars the patient from heaven, for no drunkard shall inherit the kingdom of God (except there be repentance…), 1 Cor. 6:9-10.
