Apple Butter Bars

Apples 1 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 c All-purpose flour
1 ts Baking soda
1 ts Salt
2 1/2 c Uncooked quick-cooking oats
5 1/2 c Sugar
1 c Butter or margarine; melted
1 1/2 c Apple butter

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; stir in butter. Press half of
mixture into a greased 13- x 9-inch pan; top with apple butter. Sprinkle
with remaining crumb mixture, and press gently with back of a spoon.
Bake at 350° for 55 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool and cut into
bars. Makes 3 dozen.
Notes : Freeze extras and keep on hand for after-school snacks. Select
tart, green-skinned Granny Smiths for cakes and pies.
