INGREDIENTS
2 | c | Sugar |
3/4 | c | Salad oil |
3 | Eggs | |
1 | t | Baking soda |
3 | c | Flour |
3 | c | Pared, chopped apples |
2 | t | Vanilla |
1 | c | Chopped nuts |
1/2 | c | Butter |
1 | c | Firmly packed brown sugar |
1/4 | c | Evaporated milk |
INSTRUCTIONS
Squares: Combine sugar, oil, eggs, soda, flour, apples, vanilla and nuts. Mix well; batter is stiff. Spread evenly in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake for 1 hour in a preheated oven at 325 degrees. Cake can be iced while still warm. Topping: Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes longer. Spread topping on squares. Cool cake squares completely before cutting.
