Brotherly love

TOPICAL STUDY

BROTHERLY LOVE

LEV 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

LEV 19:34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

DEU 10:19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

PSA 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

PRO 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

PRO 15:17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

PRO 17:9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

PRO 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

PRO 24:17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

PRO 24:18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

SON 8:6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

SON 8:7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

MAT 5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

MAT 5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

MAT 10:41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

MAT 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

MAT 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

MAT 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

MAT 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

MAT 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

MAT 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

MAT 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

MAR 9:41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

MAR 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

MAR 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

MAR 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

LUK 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

LUK 6:32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

LUK 6:33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

LUK 6:34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

LUK 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

LUK 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

LUK 10:29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

LUK 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

LUK 10:31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

LUK 10:32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

LUK 10:33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

LUK 10:34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

LUK 10:35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

LUK 10:36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

LUK 10:37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

JOH 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.

JOH 13:15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

JOH 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

JOH 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

JOH 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

JOH 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

ACT 20:26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

ACT 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

ACT 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

ACT 26:29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

ROM 1:12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

ROM 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

ROM 9:3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

ROM 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

ROM 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

ROM 12:15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

ROM 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

ROM 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

ROM 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

ROM 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

ROM 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

ROM 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

ROM 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

ROM 15:2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

ROM 15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

ROM 15:7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

ROM 15:14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

ROM 15:32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

1CO 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

1CO 8:13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

1CO 10:24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.

1CO 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

1CO 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

1CO 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

1CO 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

1CO 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

1CO 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

1CO 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

1CO 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

1CO 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1CO 16:14 Let all your things be done with charity.

2CO 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

2CO 1:6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

2CO 1:14 As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.

2CO 2:4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.

2CO 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

2CO 4:5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

2CO 7:2 Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

2CO 7:12 Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.

2CO 12:15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

2CO 12:19 Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.

2CO 13:9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

GAL 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

GAL 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

GAL 5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

GAL 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

GAL 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

GAL 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

EPH 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

EPH 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

EPH 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

PHI 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

PHI 1:4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

PHI 1:5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

PHI 1:7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

PHI 1:8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

PHI 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

PHI 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

PHI 1:24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

PHI 1:25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

PHI 1:26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

PHI 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

COL 1:3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

COL 1:4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,

COL 1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:

COL 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

COL 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

COL 2:5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

COL 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

COL 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

COL 3:14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

1TH 2:7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

1TH 2:8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

1TH 2:11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,

1TH 3:10 Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

1TH 3:12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

1TH 4:9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

1TH 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

1TH 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

2TH 1:4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

1TI 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

1TI 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

2TI 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

2TI 1:4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

2TI 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

HEB 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

HEB 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

HEB 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.

HEB 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

HEB 13:3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

JAM 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

JAM 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

1PE 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

1PE 2:17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

1PE 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

1PE 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

2PE 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

1JO 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

1JO 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1JO 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

1JO 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1JO 3:17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

1JO 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

1JO 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

1JO 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1JO 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

1JO 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

1JO 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

1JO 4:21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

1JO 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

1JO 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

2JO 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
