shortening, sugar and milk in medium bowl at medium speed until well
blended. Beat in egg and vanilla. combine flour, salt and baking powder.
Mix into creamed mixture. Drop lever measuring tablespoonfuls 2 inches
apart onto baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 7 to 9 minutes. Remove to cooling
rack. Cool completely before frosting. Frosting: combine 1/2 cup
shortening, powdered sugar, 1/3 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla in small
mixing bowl. Beat at low speed of mixer for 15 seconds. Scrape bowl. Beat
at high speed for 2 minutes or until smooth and creamy. Put the frosting in
pastry bag and tint the frosting green to make a holly or wreath out of the
cookie. Attach red hots for berries on the holly wreath. Press red hots
into frosting to hold to cookie. These make nice cookies to make for name
place tags. Just write the name of the person on the cookie with the pastry
bag.
