INSTRUCTIONS
Mix sugar, buttermilk, soda, and salt in a heavy 3-quart saucepan, and cook
over medium heat to soft-ball stage. Cool. Beat in butter and vanilla and
stir in pecans. Drop by tablespoons onto wax paper to cool. Work fast. It
it starts to harden in the pan, add a few drops of buttermilk, reheat, and
stir well.
