We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Determinism makes parents conclude that good shaping influences will automatically produce good children. This often bears bitter fruit later in life. Parents who have an unruly and troublesome teenager or young adult conclude that the problem is the shaping influences they provided. They think if they had made a little better home, things would have turned out OK. They forget that the child is never determined solely by shaping influences of life. Remember that Proverbs 4:23 instructs you that the heart is the fountain from which life flows. Your child’s heart determines how he responds to your parenting.

Scripture speaks about God working everything together “for the good” of those who love him (Rom. 8:28). But what is this “good?” It consists of believers being conformed (changed and remade) to the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29). Thus, all the experiences of life are intended, under the sovereign hand of God, to help us to grow towards the great goal of the Christian life – Christ-likeness.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Seafood Cajun Cajun, Seafood, Seasonings 1 Servings

INGREDIENTS

4 8-oz swordfish steaks; thawed
1 tb Onion powder
3/4 ts Black pepper
1/4 ts White pepper
1 tb Salt
1 tb Thyme
1/2 ts Annatto powder; (for color)
2 ts Hungarian paprika
1/4 ts Sage
1/4 ts Rosemary
1 ts Ancho pasilla cayenne chile; powdered

INSTRUCTIONS

CAJUN SEASONING
Put ingredients in mortor and grind. A spice grinder makes the rub too
fine. Store excess in tightly-sealed jar.
Thaw the swordfish steaks and sprinkle Cajun seasoning generously on both
sides. Place the steaks on a small grill over a glass baking dish so that
the liquid that comes out of the fish does not wash away the seasoning.
Marinate for 1-2 hours at room temperature.
Grill the steaks over hot coals with some mesquite chips for flavor. DO NOT
OVER COOK. Remove the steaks when the meat at the center of the steak has
just turned white, about 140F. Check for doneness with two forks and open
up a section of the steak to see into the center.
Serve with dirty Cajun Rice.
