Cheese, Onion And Herb Flan

INGREDIENTS

6 oz Plain flour
4 oz Block margarine, melted
1 T Water
1 oz Margarine
1 Onion, finely chopped
2 T Freshly chopped mixed herbs
6 oz Vegetarian Cheshire cheese
grated
2 Medium-sized eggs
4 T Single cream or milk
Salt and freshly ground
black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix together the flour, melted margarine and water and press into the
base and up the sides of a 23cm (9inch) fluted flan ring. Chill for  20
minutes. Prick the base with a fork and bake blind in a preheated  oven
200 øC, 400 øF, Gas Mark 6 for 20 minutes. Melt the margarine  and
fry the onion for 4-5 minutes. Cool slightly, stir in the herbs  then
spoon into the flan case. Mix together the cheese, eggs, cream  or milk
and seasoning and pour over the onion. Place on a baking tray  in a
preheated oven 190 øC, 375 øF, Gas Mark 5 for 25-30 minutes  until
the filling has set and turned golden. Converted by MC_Buster.  NOTES :
Deliciously light flan ideal for a main course, or served as
individual flans for a starter, it would serve 6. Serve hot or cold.
