God is sovereign, but parents are responsible. God’s sovereignty is our hope. Parents are utterly dependent on God. He can save any child, no matter how dark the circumstances. On the other hand, God normally reaches children through their parents. It is fatal to presume on God’s sovereignty by neglecting parental faithfulness. Yet it is also a mistake to assume that it all depends on us. It doesn’t. In fact, none of your efforts will prevail unless God bestows the gift of faith on your children. We are utterly dependent and responsible at the same time.

INGREDIENTS

1		9-inch graham cracker crumb crust or baked pastry shell
1	pk	(8-oz) cream cheese; softened
1	cn	(14-oz) Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1/3	c	ReaLemon lemon juice from concentrate
1	ts	Vanilla extract
1	cn	(21-oz) cherry pie filling; chilled

INSTRUCTIONS

In large mixer bowl beat cheese until fluffy.  Gradually beat in sweetened
condensed milk until smooth. Stir in ReaLemon brand and vanilla. Pour into
prepared crust. Chill 3 hours or until set. Top with desired amount of pie
filling before serving. Refrigerate leftovers.
Strawberry Cheese Pie: Omit cherry pie filling. Top with 1 quart fresh
strawberries, cleaned and hulled, and 1 (16-oz) package prepared strawberry
glaze, chilled.

Christ commands us to love our enemies, and uses as His model the fact that God from heaven showers His blessings on the wicked. We see that God actually hates and is infinitely angry with persons upon whom He pours great blessings. We are not allowed to hate persons, but are commanded to love them. We cannot, of course, be pleased with persons who hate God and hate us, but we can behave lovingly toward them and pray for them. In so doing, we follow the model of God.
