INGREDIENTS

1 pk Dried kidney beans; (18 oz)
1 tb Minced onion
2 ts Beef bouillon granules
1 ts Salt
1/2 ts Garlic powder
2 1/2 tb Chili powder
1 ts Dried oregano
1/4 ts Ground red pepper
1 sm Bay leaf

INSTRUCTIONS

Place beans in an airtight plastic bag. Combine minced onion, bouillon
granules, salt and garlic powder. Place in a small airtight plastic
bag. Put bag in a colorful decorative bag and label it "Flavoring
Packet". Combine remaining ingredients in a small airtight plastic
bag. Place bag in a decorative bag and label it "Seasoning Packet".
Place 1 bag beans, 1 Flavoring Packet and 1 Seasoning Packet in a
napkin lined basket. Be sure to include directions for preparing on a
gift card.
The directions should read: Sort and wash beans; place in a large
Dutch oven. Cover with water 2 inches above beans; let soak 8 hours.
Drain. Combine beans, Flavoring Packet and 7 cups water in a large
Dutch oven. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour,
stirring occasionally. Stir in 1 pound cooked ground beef, 1 (8 oz)
can tomato sauce, 1 (8 oz) can tomato paste and Seasoning Packet.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered 30 minutes,
stirring occasionally.
