Chocolate Berry Cobbler

INGREDIENTS

3 c Fresh or Frozen Berries; such as Strawberr raspberries; blackberries, or
; blueberries
1 c Sugar
1/3 c Butter
1 c All-purpose flour
1 tb Baking powder
1 c Milk
1/4 c Chocolate syrup
Vanilla ice cream; (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Thaw berries if frozen, but do not drain. Combine berries, 1/4 cup
sugar, and 2 tablespoon water; let stand 5 minutes. In a 9x9x2 inch
baking pan melt butter in 350 oven. Stir together flour, 3/4 cup
sugar, and baking powder; stir in milk. Remove pan from oven. Pour
batter atop butter. Drizzle with chocolate syrup. Spoon undrained
berries atop. Bake in a 350 oven about 40 minutes or until a
toothpick comes out clean. Cool slightly. If desired, top each
serving with ice cream.
