INGREDIENTS
| 1/2 | c | Shortening (part butter) |
| 1/2 | c | Sugar |
| 1 | Egg | |
| 1 | ts | Vanilla |
| 1 1/2 | c | Flour |
| 1/4 | ts | Soda |
| 1/2 | ts | Salt |
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix shortening, sugar, egg & vanilla. Stir together flour, soda & salt; blend in. Color 2/3 of the dough red or green. Mold into 10*1 1/2" roll. Mold this roll into a bell shape by squeezing the top together & leaving the lower half flared & curving; chill. Save 1/4 cup white dough for clappers. Roll out remaining dough on wax paper into rectangle large enough to cover colored roll, about 10*4"; trim edges. Wrap around roll; chill again. Heat oven to 375. cut 1/8" thick slices.
