INGREDIENTS

1 2/3 c All-purpose flour
3/4 c Sugar
1/3 c HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1 ts Baking powder
1 ts Baking soda
1 ts Salt
1/4 ts Ground cinnnamon
1 ds Ground nutmeg
1/2 c Shortening
2 Eggs
1 c Applesauce
1/2 c Chopped pecans
VANILLA GLAZE (recipe follows)

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat oven to 350 F. Grease bottom only of 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. In large
mixer bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda,
salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add shortening, eggs and applesauce; beat just
until blended. Stir in pecans. Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Bake 50 to
55 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 15
minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely. Prepare VANILLA
GLAZE; drizzle over bread. 1 loaf (14 servings).
VANILLA GLAZE: In small bowl, stir together 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 3 to
4 teaspoons milk. About 1/4 cup glaze.
