Cranberry Wassail

INGREDIENTS

1 ga Ocean Spray cranberry juice cocktail
5 c Apple juice
2/3 c Sugar
4 Whole cinnamon sticks; (3-inch)
2 ts Whole allspice
1 md Orange; sliced
20 Whole cloves
2 1/2 c Brandy or vodka (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

In a large saucepot over medium heat, mix together cranberry juice
cocktail, apple juice, sugar, cinnamon sticks and allspice. Heat to
boiling; reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Strain punch to remove spices.
Serve warm in a heatproof punch bowl or chill and serve over ice. For a
more spirited punch, stir brandy into hot punch or vodka to chilled punch.
Garnish with orange slices, studded with cloves. Makes 42 (4 ounce)
servings.
WASSAIL Orange decorated | Scanned | 6 whole oranges (scored and decorated
with cloves) 1 gal. apple juice 1 qt. cranberry juice 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp.
bitters | In a cheesecloth bag place 4 sticks cinnamon, 100 cloves, 2
teaspoons allspice. Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a boil
and simmer 15 minutes. Remove spice bag. Pour wassail and oranges into
large punch bowl. Place a small pitcher of Apple Jack Brandy beside the
bowl so that each guest may add to their cup to taste. This serves 12 to
15. Perfect for Christmas Open House.
