A true Christian loves Christ for all He has done for him. He has suffered in his stead and died for him on the cross. He has redeemed him from the guilt, the power, and the consequences of sin, by His blood. He has called him by His Spirit to self-knowledge, repentance, faith, hope, and holiness. He has forgiven all his many sins and blotted them out. He has freed him from the captivity of the world, the flesh, and the devil. He has taken him from the brink of hell, placed him in the narrow way, and set his face toward heaven. He has given him light instead of darkness, peace of conscience instead of uneasiness, hope instead of uncertainty, life instead of death. Can you wonder that the true Christian loves Christ? And he [also] loves Him besides, for all that He is still doing.

I. THE WOMEN CAME VERY EARLY TO THE SEPULCHRE

  1. Beautiful time of nature
  2. Early before minds filled with carnal, mundane things
  3. Early so as not to waste time
    1. Ben Frankin, “Early to bed…”
    2. They had duties to perform on the body of Jesus
  4. We are here with a job to do

II. THEY CAME WITH PROBLEMS

  1. Jesus was dead (their hopes were dashed)
  2. The Jews might also kill them (“fear of the Jews”)
  3. There was no one to roll the stone away
  4. We too, may be loaded down with problems

III. THEY WERE UNAWARE THAT THEIR PROBLEMS WERE ALREADY ANSWERED

  1. Jesus was alive–not dead as they thought
  2. They were on the winning side against the Jews
  3. The stone was already moved out of the way
  4. Your mountain may already be moved!

IV. THEIR LOVE AND SERVICE IN SMALL THINGS BROUGHT AN ANSWER

  1. Angels spoke to them
  2. Christ Himself appeared to them
  3. Christ spoke peace to their hearts
  4. Not a gardener, but Jesus–is speaking to us today!
